Tell Me on a Friday #4: Bad Winter

Hi-ho readers,

If you know me well, you know that I could always sleep just “five more minutes,” which then turns into two more hours. But what is that feeling? One of my favorite newsletters, What’s the Difference?, recently explored the differences between sleepiness, fatigue, tiredness, and exhaustion. I’m not sure which I’m landing on this week. I’ve worked several late nights on a big project, but feel functional. The erratic weather has made me feel pretty strange. Last Sunday, I dropped off my laundry in my rubber Birkenstocks, and today, I’m bundled up and wishing I had a bigger coat. We’re certainly in Bad Winter, as coined by Katie McDonough. This weekend I’m focused on trying to spend daylight hours outside. Or at least awake.

Other Business

Following up on last newsletter, I feel like almost as soon as I mentioned Anthony Bourdain, Netflix pulled all of Parts Unknown, and I believe it’s moving to HBO Max. I did find some free episodes of No Reservations to watch on the Travel Channel’s app.

See you in two,
Emily

¹ This resonated with me as someone who has taken up knitting within the last year and has wondered whether I should make stuff to sell. 1. I’m not very good at it. 2. I like the process more than the product. Also, I’m trying to start a queer women’s knitting circle, so please let me know if you’re interested!
² I absolutely teared up listening to this outside Strand last week.
³ Many of these songs are deeply embarrassing but I contain multitudes.
⁴ This was on a mixtape I got through several degrees of separation in the eighth grade, and I pulled it out of some well of consciousness.
⁵ Yes, this song has been the background music to multiple bad TikToks created by worse medical professionals, but it’s a good song!!!
