Hi-ho readers,
This is kind of a short one but I will tell you that I saw Mean Girls on Broadway last night and it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time at a musical. Or concert, or show, or anything. Goofy and laugh out loud funny, and catchy to the point of distress.

Other Business
Good food I’ve eaten in the past two weeks: burger at Dutch Boy/Franklin Park, the crepe classique at Cafe Un Deux Trois (a restaurant I enjoy just as much now as I did in high school), the eggplant menemen at Golda, Alison Roman’s spiced chickpea stew (aka #TheStew), which I made twice.
The only beverages that senators are permitted to drink on the Senate floor are water and milk. I got in a heated discussion about this with the waitress at Golda.
January has been three months long and I’m excited for it to be over.
See you in two,
Emily
¹ I revisited this because rumor has it we are due for a new Fiona Apple album after eight years in the desert. I think this is one of the finest profiles of a musician written in the 2010s. Does anyone know what happened to the author? His name is pretty common but I can’t find anything he’s written in the past six or seven years.
² I’ve followed Bianca’s work for some time now, and my favorite thing is her short film The Scared is scared, which I revisit every winter.
³ This song was certainly an iTunes Free Single of the Week during my formative years, but it still very much Goes.
⁴ As I said on Twitter, I recently found out this song was written by Meredith Brooks of “Bitch” fame.
