Hi-ho readers,
Sorry for the slightly late release, I was connecting to the wrong Wi-Fi network for TWO hours!!! Pretend it’s still Friday. Greetings from day 57 of social distancing. Every time I see that number rise I am filled with a little more dread. I think it’s noble to admit you’re not doing well. I am not! My sleep schedule hasn’t been normal since March and I don’t go outside. But I am regularly taking my gummy vitamins and wearing my retainers. Also, as I tweeted, I have finally found the correct shampoo for my hair after a lifelong search.
I received a radio as a gift fro Jehan recently, which has consistently been a delight. We used to listen to the radio a lot as kids, and I have been rediscovering some of my old favorite programs, as well as making some new ones a part of my daily routine. It is really nice to have it as a drone in the background during the work day. If you are in the market for a radio, might I recommend the Sangean WR-15? I’ve been listening to All of It with Alison Stewart every day, as well as New Sounds (both on WNYC). New Sounds had a really interesting tribute episode to the blues musician Revered Gary Davis earlier this week. Two of my favorite shows from when I was younger are Sunday Baroque on WSHU on Sunday mornings, and Ceol na nGael (Irish music) on WFUV on Sunday afternoons.
Yesterday my mom took us on a drive, and we drove through the New Canaan Nature Center, where their Birds of Prey exhibit (which is partially open to the outside) is available to view! We looked at a bald eagle, two falcons, two owls, and a raven. It was the most exciting thing to happen to me in days. I also sat outside for 45 minutes last Saturday and got a sunburn.

¹ New album out next Friday!!
² I miss the neighborhood, and by that extension, the Space Car. Edith Zimmerman writes the most consistently lovely newsletters and I hope you all subscribe!
³ Now I want to send my friends a whole bunch of zinnias.
⁴ This was a very personal read for me. I reached out to the author and thanked her.
⁵ Inspired by watching this Fiona Apple performance approximately 20 times.
⁶ I saw the show that this song comes from, The Little Death, Vol. 1, at the PROTOTYPE festival in 2019 shortly after Matt Marks passed the May prior. It was unbelievable.
⁷ This is a great song on its own, but also, this incredible TikTok went viral this week.
⁸ I love this song but doesn’t she sound EXACTLY like Aimee Mann??
