Past experience

Emily joined my team at Barnard College just days into the pandemic shutdown, a time when our entire institution was experiencing tremendous pressure. During this time, we were forced to rethink where and how we did our work, so Emily walked into a role that immediately looked very different from the one she signed on for, a dramatic shift that she handled with grace and positivity ... During her tenure, Emily developed productive, respectful relationships across campus with essential partners and demonstrated sensitivity and emotional intelligence in working with our students, all while working under significant pressure.

Education

Her capacious intellectual curiosity fueled a constant and eager pursuit of new ideas and information, while her insistence on intellectual rigor endowed her with the patience and discipline necessary to transform those encounters into knowledge and understanding. These qualities helped Emily to become a nimble thinker and a sure-footed researcher, a passionate writer and an unsentimental editor. She values expertise but extends no unexamined credit to texts or to their authors and has always harbored a refreshing impatience with simply ‘reporting’ on others’ work. ... She has also always had a fierce work ethic and seemed to be at her best when her plate was full.
